The epidemic curve in Italy is still rising. There are 22,527 new cases of Covid in the last 24 hours, against 21,190 yesterday (here the bulletin of 21 September) and 17,978 last Thursday. The processed swabs are 165,415 (yesterday 166,500) with a positivity rate rising from 12.7% to 13.6%. There are 60 deaths today (yesterday 46), for a total of 176,775 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Intensive therapies drop by 8 units (yesterday -4) and are now 138 with 9 admissions of the day; Ordinary hospitalizations also fell, 66 less (yesterday -79), for a total of 3,350.

The increase in infections is also an effect of the return to normal life after the summer break and the arrival of the first colds that bring back to meet indoors. This was revealed by the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation this week (14-20 September). After 4 consecutive weeks of decline, there is a modest increase in new cases which go from almost 108,000 to 120,000, with an average of over 17,000 cases per day, explains Gimbe President Nino Cartabellotta. And he points out that with the resumption of viral circulation, the fourth dose of the anti-Covid vaccine is urgent for over 14 million people.
