A 63-year-old worker was found dead in a giant cooking pot at a New Jersey food processing plant earlier this week. The body of Dale R. Devilley was discovered in a machine at the Lasson Pappas plant in Cumberland County around 8 a.m. Monday. The authorities were sent to the factory following reports of a work accident and were exposed to the grim discovery after they arrived.

Deville’s death has not been treated as a homicide, but police said the investigation is ongoing. “Early Monday morning, an accident that resulted in a fatal injury to one of our employees occurred at our facility,” a plant spokesperson told New Jersey Radio. It was not immediately clear what type of accident led to the death.

“We are devastated by the loss of our friend and colleague and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time,” continued the factory spokesman. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating Deville’s death, a federal investigation database shows. Davily worked as a miller for Lason Papas, a Canadian company that makes fruit and vegetable juices, according to an online obituary. “He will be remembered for years of expertise and a vigorous work ethic. He hardly missed a day of work and took pride in his work,” the obituary reads. Deville is survived by his wife of 28 years and their two daughters.
