The round of 16 of the Open de Moselle, in Metz, offered us a gala poster. The Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, faced the Russian Daniil Medvedev, seeded number 1.
It was Wawrinka who emerged victorious, in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-3). Coming out of qualifying, the 284th in the world ranking created a small sensation, a day after passing his first round against the Portuguese Joao Sousa.
In the next round, he will face Mikael Ymer, who beat Frenchman Grégoire Barrere.
