Court orders death sentence to ex-law minister involved in Rs 58 crore corruption case in China

Beijing: China’s former law minister Pu Zhenghua has been sentenced to death in a corruption case. Pu Zhenghua, who has been sentenced to death, served as a Beijing Municipal Public Security Officer and Minister of Public Security. He was working as the Law Minister till a few days ago. He, who came to be the main source of wealth in China, was involved in a corruption case last year. It is alleged that he misused his power and took bribes amounting to 58 crore rupees.

The case was heard by the People’s Court in Jilin Province. Then Bu Zhenghua admitted his crime and expressed regret. However, the court sentenced him to death. At the same time he pleaded guilty and will be imprisoned for 2 years. His death sentence will be commuted to life imprisonment on proof of good behavior in prison
