Chairman of the state camp and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, today (Friday) backed up his party members Matan Kahana and Education Minister Yifat Shasha Biton, who were attacked during a meeting between opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu and leader of the ultra-Orthodox-Lithuanian movement Rabbi Gershon Edelstein in Bnei Brak.
“Just before Rosh Hashanah, instead of uniting and bringing together the parts of the people, Netanyahu chooses to go to Rabbi Edelstein and incite against the elected officials of the state camp,” Gantz said in response to the meeting between Netanyahu and Edelstein.
“When I was with Rabbi Elbaz this week, I only talked about unity in the nation. Bibi, stop arguing, dividing, dividing the nation against each other. On November 1, 2022, we will put an end to this and we will establish a stable government – without you,” added Gantz.
As I recall, during his meeting with Rabbi Edelstein, Netanyahu said: “All these years I have been guarding the world of the Torah, and then Matan Kahane came and asked to damage the status quo and the Torah.”
Besides Matan Kahana, in a meeting between the ultra-Orthodox rabbi and the former prime minister that lasted about 20 minutes, the Minister of Education Yifat Shasha Biton was also attacked, with MK Moshe Gafni claiming that because of her they stopped teaching the Bible in schools.

“Reminder to Gaffni and Netanyahu: Tell a lie, stay away,” Minister Shasha Biton said. “Gafni and Netanyahu have no problem lying to Rabbi Edelstein before Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, just to garner a few votes.”
“Bible studies in schools have not been canceled. The Bible classes remain as they were and the innovation in teaching methods will only strengthen them and make them more meaningful and advanced.
