Chennai: Squash Federation of India, CHL-SRFI organized the first international squash tournament for India tour in Chennai.
In the men’s final, India’s Abhay Singh, who is ranked 96 in the world, played against Khaled Lafib of Egypt, who was ranked 101. Abhay Singh won the title in straight sets 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 in this match which lasted 22 minutes.
In the women’s category, world number 61 Kenzi Ayman of Egypt took on India’s 391-ranked Sunaina Kuruwila. In this, Kenzi Ayman won 11-7, 11-2, 11-6 and won the title of champion.
The title winners in both categories were awarded a prize of Rs 9.70 lakh each. It is noteworthy that players from 10 countries including Canada, Egypt, France, Japan, Russia, Spain and India participated in this series.
