Member of Parliament Sarath Weerasekara has said that the development activities carried out by the Department of Archeology at Kurundur Hill will not be stopped for any reason.
Sarath Weerasekhara said in the Parliament that the members representing the Tamil people in the Parliament are inciting racism in the country and they should not act in such a way as to destroy the friendship between the Sinhalese and the Tamil people.

The Tamils chased away archaeologists who had gone to restore a 2,000-year-old obelisk at Kurundur hill and chased away the monks who had gone to worship there.

Tamils should protect the Kurundur hill
As the road leading to Thirukoneswaram temple is not owned by the temple, about 60 shops on that road will be developed
.These shops are owned by the Sinhalese and the Tamil National Federation protests against them as racists.
The antiquity of Thirukoneswaram temple should be preserved. We will protect it. Similarly, the Tamils should protect the Kurundur hill,” he said.
