Erode: There has been a request to relocate the child line center located in a low-traffic area at the Erode railway station.
In 2019, a Child Line Center was set up at Platform No-1 in the Erode Railway Station premises to monitor and rescue unaccompanied boys and girls. In the center is a small room that can accommodate only one person. It is also water inside the center during rainy season

It is a challenging matter to investigate and provide counseling to rescued boys and girls due to lack of adequate facilities. Child Line organizers have said that since it is in a less trafficked area, people don’t see much. In this regard, they said: The center should be shifted to the platform area where there is a lot of people’s movement and adequate space should be provided.
Every month, we rescue 25 to 30 boys and girls from the railway station premises. Most of them are from northern states. It will be useful if it is set up in a high traffic area with sufficient space. Thus they said.
Why not allow it?
The Child Line organizers tried to petition the General Manager of Southern Railway who came to Erode Railway Station on the 21st to inspect the issue. But Erode and Salem divisional railway officials did not allow the petition.
