Tarzana: The landlord burglarizes with a shotgun

A couple woke up to a burglary at their home in the heart of Los Angeles Valley, but luckily they were able to get the suspects to flee before they could steal anything. The police launched a search for the pair of burglars

The Los Angeles Police Department opened an investigation after two young men broke into a home in the Tarzana neighborhood, but fled the scene after the armed property owner confronted them.

The incident happened last Tuesday, around 10:30 at night, on Wells St. corner Geyser St., south of Ventura St. in the heart of the Valley.

According to the police, the couple who live in the house were sleeping in one of the rooms on the second floor of the luxurious mansion when they were suddenly awakened by the noise of shattering glass.

The property owner was not confused, and immediately took his shotgun and went down to confront the two suspects. “The armed owner of the property surprised the burglars and threatened to shoot at them if they did not leave the house,” the detectives said. Following the threat, the suspects ran away from the house, jumped over a wall and disappeared. It is not clear if they fled on foot or got into a car.

As mentioned, the police have opened an investigation and are trying to understand whether the suspects knew the house: “This is a property that is used as a photo set for movies, series and commercials,” said the police.

However, the researchers do not rule out the possibility that the suspects arrived at the house randomly: “Recently we see more and more cases like this, in which the house is broken into in the dead of night. This is quite unusual because in most cases of break-ins, the suspects enter the house during the day, while the tenants are supposedly not at home.” , said the police.

In recent months, many incidents have been reported in Terzana, including last March when three men were arrested in connection with at least three violent home burglaries.

According to the police, the three suspects – 27-year-old Terry McGee, 32-year-old Savion Jefferson and 34-year-old Dejah Childers – were arrested a few hours after they broke into a house on Gale Street, while attacking the residents.

The arrest report reveals that the three suspects and another person broke into the house in the dead of night: “At least two of the suspects were armed with guns, and they woke the victims and demanded money and jewelry. One of the victims of the robbery was severely beaten.”
