Don’t say Rohit Sharma played well, the bowlers bowled the wrong ball – Ashish Nehra’s opinion!

by time news

Former fast bowler Ashish Nehra has commented that the opposition bowlers made this mistake while bowling to Rohit Sharma.

Currently the T20 series between India and Australia is going on. The series is tied as both the teams have won one each after the first two matches.

The second match was played on September 23 at the Nagpur ground. The Indian team won the toss and chose to bowl first. The game was suspended due to continuous rain. Later it was changed to an 8 over match. Batting first, Australia scored 90 runs in eight overs. Wade’s highest score was 43 runs.

Captain Rohit Sharma, who batted after this, took the visiting team forward with sixes and fours from the start. Even after other players were out, he continued to play. Rohit Sharma hit 2 sixes off Hazelwood in the first over. Rohit Sharma returned to form after hitting two sixes in this over.

The bowlers who came after that also bowled the wrong length. Full length ball ends up being a shot-ball. Most of us know how Rohit Sharma hits the shot-ball. Former fast bowler Asis Negra has criticized Australia’s bowling in this context.

“Australian bowlers did not deliberately bowl the chat-ball to Rohit Sharma. It ended up being a wrong length throw. A couple of sixes off the ball from a player like Hazelwood would have given extra confidence. After that Rohit Sharma hit some good balls that he bowled and hit them for sixes.

Rohit Sharma was not in perfect form till the end of the tournament. You throw the ball to him by mistake, so he takes advantage of it and comes to the farm. Little did the Australian bowlers know that one game like this would be enough for Rohit to return to form. So, Rohit played like this only because of the mistakes made by the Australian bowlers.” As Ashish Negra noted in his review.
