Tonight (night) Lapid published what he said at the wedding:

“Yoavi, Shay, you think you are making a decision today – to get married, but the truth is that you are making a lot of decisions today. There is a child whose eye color was decided today. There is a house where today it was decided what the color of the porcelain in the kitchen will be.”

“There is a beach in Greece that doesn’t know this about itself, but today it was decided to have a family vacation there. In the morning your children – all four of them – will play on the waterfront, at night the two of you will walk hand in hand on the beach and ask yourself if you shouldn’t transfer the other son to another school, because he is not doing well. It’s always the second son, and he always doesn’t get along”

“Your life will consist of boring victories and exciting failures. You will earn money and spend it. You will travel abroad at least once in your life just so you don’t have to decide where to make the order”

“You will build small, intimate and permanent institutions, which will be only yours: a glass of wine before bed. read aloud something from the weekend papers. Back to the bench under the Eiffel Tower where you proposed and she agreed. And speaking of permanent things, I ask not to miss the annual pilgrimage to my grave, even if it falls on an inconvenient date.”

All I’m trying to say here, my children, is that the great force, the driving force, the governor in all of our lives, was and remains love. There is nothing more important than the question of who you choose to love. There is no moment in your life that will define other moments more than the present moment.”

“Your decision to love each other is the door that opens in front of thousands of other decisions you will make in the next fifty years. It will dictate the entire course of your life, which means that the entire course of your life will be governed by love”

“Lehiah and I have a phrase, ‘to be a witness.’ When you are married to someone, or to someone, he is your witness as to how you conducted yourself in this world. What kind of parent are you, how did you behave in your workplace, what kind of friend are you to your friends. Until the witness takes the stand, you have not received permission. Until this moment, until the wedding, the witnesses are still the parents, so I want to give my last testimony about you before I hand you over to each other.”

“You are two wonderful young people. You are smart, you are funny, you are beautiful and there is a cultural depth in the connection between you that will serve you well throughout life. You are good people. You are good Israelis. I am proud to be your father. I am very, very happy that you are getting married, my beloved children.”
