Trigger: Screen Review | Trigger movie review

Joining the undercover team that monitors the cops is retired police officer Prabhakaran (Atharva). His life is interrupted by Michael (Rahul Dev Shetty), who commits crimes including child abduction and drug sales. His victim is Prabhakaran’s father Sathyamurthy (Arun Pandian). Prabhakaran steps in to thwart Michael’s plan to kidnap the child he wants. Michael steps in to destroy Prabhakaran and his family. Who wins is the rest of the story.

Director Sam Anton has added innovation to the screenplay for the usual action story centered around the conflict between the police and the criminal network. It lends itself to moving most of the film with excitement. The hero who is in an environment where he cannot reveal his identity as an undercover officer, the villain who hides his identity while in prison and commits crimes, both of them being smart and strong fulfill the basic requirement of an action screenplay.

However, the film’s idiosyncratic logical fallacies prevent it from being fully enjoyed. Many scenes pass without credibility and interest as the hero learns all the villains’ plans through hacking.

Arun Pandiyan’s background is confusing as it is left out. Due to this, the sentimental scenes of the film did not have the proper impact.

As the vibrant young police officer, Atharva fits in perfectly as usual. As the heroine, Tanya Ravichandran has an important role in the story. Arun Pandiyan as an old man suffering from amnesia attracts attention. Rahul Dev Shetty has threatened in everything be it bad, body language, acting.

As an undercover police officer, Chinni Jayant has brought out the different dimension of her performance. Gibran’s background music adds excitement to the screenplay.

Although there are some flaws, including some sentimental scenes that don’t stick, this ‘Trigger’ is well pressed as a thrilling action thriller.
