After winning the toss and electing to bat, New Zealand were bowled out for 219 runs in 47 overs. In reply batting, India overcame the target with the loss of six wickets in 34 overs

Opener Prithvi Shah gave strength to the Indian innings. Shah was dismissed for 77 off 48 balls with 11 fours and three sixes. Skipper Sanju Samson scored 37 runs and Rituraj Geik Wad scored 30 runs. Shardul Thakur remained unbeaten on 25 runs and Rishi Dhawan on 22 runs

Earlier, the Kiwis scored 200 thanks to Joe Carter’s 72 and Rachin Ravindra’s 61. Sean Solia scored 28 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for India. Rishi Dhawan and Rahul Chahar took two wickets each while Umran Malik and Raj Bawa took one wicket each.
