The protest has been going on for the last few months due to the huge economic crisis in Sri Lanka. Due to the economic crisis, the prices of petrol, diesel and food items have increased. Due to this, the people were in dire straits.

Subsequently, the protesters in Sri Lanka intensified their protests against the then President Gotabaya Rajapakse.

As a result, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned from his post. Ranil Wickramasinghe took office as the new president. After that the protests in Sri Lanka subsided and the situation came under control.

However, people are protesting from time to time to reduce the rise in the prices of essential commodities.

In this situation, the protests are now again on the rise in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan government has declared several areas of Colombo as a high security zone. There is strong opposition to this among the youth there.

Protests have started again in Sri Lanka. Protesters attempted to march near the Colombo Ministry of Health building.

Then tear gas shells were thrown to stop them. And the water was also beaten. The protesters then dispersed and ran away. 84 people including 4 women have been arrested in this connection.
