Petrol bomb attack in Coimbatore: 2 arrested – Dinamani

Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said that the police have arrested 2 people in connection with the petrol bomb attack in Coimbatore.

In Tamil Nadu, there have been incidents of petrol bombs being thrown at the houses and shops of BJP and Hindu leaders in Coimbatore, Oppanakkara Road, Mettupalayam, Pollachi, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Tirupur, Salem etc. Following this, tense situation is prevailing in the districts for the last two days.

Subsequently, 2 RAF units, 2 units of the State Commando Force, 2 units of the Special Task Force, and 3,500 additional policemen have been engaged in security work in Coimbatore.

Various political parties have condemned the incident of petrol bombing and demanded an end to it immediately.

DGP Shailendra Babu warned that those involved in criminal activities that disturb public peace will be arrested under the National Security Act. He also said that a special force has been formed to identify and arrest those involved in criminal activities.

Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said that the police have arrested 2 people in connection with the petrol bomb attack in Coimbatore.

He said: The police have arrested Jesuraj and Ilyas on the basis of the footage recorded on the CCTV camera in the area regarding the incidents of petrol bombs being thrown at the houses and shops of BJP and Hindu leaders in Coimbatore.

Both the arrested persons are in charge of STPI party.

Municipal Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said that various religious organizations have also promised to cooperate to maintain peace.
