BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEV) and electric batteries, has signed a framework agreement with the Galician group Castrosua, a specialist in development and manufacture of bodies of buses and coaches in Spain. Both companies are going to produce customized 12-meter-long environmentally friendly electric buses in Spain, specifically intended for the Spanish market.
BYD-Castrosua 12-meter eBuses will be built on BYD’s advanced chassis with electric drivetrainand will incorporate Castrosua’s NELEC bodywork to offer high value-added electric transport solutions to Spanish customers.
The first 12-meter BYD-Castrosua eBus is already under development and will soon be available to operate under CE regulations. The latest BYD chassis, with greater autonomy, optimized battery life and ultra-safe performance, on which Castrosua will adapt the assembly of its NELEC bodywork. The 12-metre BYD-Castrosua eBuses will soon be added to the urban electric fleets, thus contributing to the transition towards the electrification of public transport in Spain.

BYD and Castrosua’s strategic cooperation is committed to manufacturing tailor-made products that meet the demands of the Spanish market through a framework agreement for the development, manufacture and sale of electric buses, initially focusing on class I and class II buses for urban and suburban use. The agreement will also jointly offer a high-quality and efficient after-sales service, with professional and customer-oriented technical support on both sides, as well as the supply of spare parts.
