Fertilizer for samba cultivation is liberalized by Central Government

Chennai: The central government has generously provided the fertilizers required for the cultivation of Samba season rice in Tamil Nadu.

Chamba season paddy cultivation has started in Tamil Nadu. Cultivation is likely to take place up to 30 lakh acres. Therefore, the use of fertilizers will increase significantly. Apart from 4,350 cooperative shops, 7,600 private shops have also been given permission to sell fertilizers in Tamil Nadu.
An artificial shortage is created at the time of crop weeding and fertilizers are sold at additional cost. To prevent this, steps are being taken by the Agriculture Department. Daily sales and supply of fertilizers are being monitored district wise.
In the meantime, the central government is generously providing the fertilizers required by Tamil Nadu. 5.20 crore kilos of urea imported from Russia has arrived at the Tuticorin port. Of this, 2.20 crore kg has been allotted to Tamil Nadu. So far 1 crore kg has been supplied.
Similarly, DAP, fertilizer, 3.20 crore kg has been imported. Of this, one crore kg has been provided to Tamil Nadu so far. The central government has given permission to take the required amount of DAP. Also, 1.20 crore kg of potash has been imported for Tamil Nadu.
Thus, the agricultural sector is confident that there will be no shortage of fertilizers at the time of weeding of samba cultivation.
