Census again in Sharjah; The total population in 2015 will be around 15 lakhs, including non-residents

Sharjah ∙ Statistics and Community Development Department has started census again in Sharjah. In the project called ‘U Count’, apart from natives, non-residents will also be counted. DSCD’s largest public census to date will support Sharjah’s policy-making and development. Censuses reveal the latest statistics on households, labor, housing and other infrastructure. Census was conducted in Sharjah in 2015.

Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi said the census will be very beneficial to improve the government’s planning to support all elements of the society. Sultan bin Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi said that Sharjah has a comprehensive statistic and the habitat and solid infrastructure that guarantee the accuracy of the census will be revealed through the census.

The census will be started according to the vision of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the UAE Supreme Council to improve people’s lives and Ruler of Sharjah.

Sharjah Census 2015 Results

The total population of Sharjah is 14,05,843. Natives: 17,5,432. Out of this 86,325 males and 89,098 females. They constitute 12% of the total population. Foreigners: 12,30,417. Out of this 8,34,542 are male and 3,95,875 are female. 87% of the total population.

Sharjah city tops the population list when compared to the percentage of each municipality. Total population 12,74,749 (90.6%). The city of Khorfakan is in second place –39,151 (2.8%). Kalba city ranked third with 37,545 people (2.7%). Al Daed city has 20,165 people (1.4%). Didda Al Hin city has 12,573 people (0.9%). 11,120 people (0.8%) in Al Madam city. Maleeha City 4,768 people (0.3%). Al Bateh city has 3,958 people (0.3%); Al Hamriya has a population of 3,297.
