Nellikuppam-Nellikuppam Police arrested a man who smuggled sand in a mini-load van near Nellikuppam. Nellikuppam Inspector Srinivasan, Sub-Inspector Thandapani and the police patrolled the Vanpakkam Prinayatangarai area yesterday morning at 2:00 a.m. on the information that sand was being smuggled from the Nellikuppam Prinayat. They left their two bikes and fled. The police chased away the mini load van carrying sand and overturned it and arrested the driver for questioning. He was identified as Raja Makan Velmurugan, 28, from Kombakk next to Villanuar, Puducherry. It came to know that he was smuggling sand to Puducherry. The police registered a case and arrested Velmurugan who was smuggling sand. Also, they seized a mini-load van with registration number TN31T4203 and two bikes used for smuggling. Also, they are looking for four people who escaped.
