The hospital management did not allow the child to be transferred to another hospital despite his deteriorating health condition. The parents also said that they did not get the ambulance facility and oxygen on time.

The family members have come forward with allegations of medical malpractice in the death of Sera Maria, daughter of Prince Thomas, a resident of Kanjirapalli Palambra. Following her burns, the child was brought to a private hospital in Erumeli on the 13th of this month. The infection started within days of the treatment, but the hospital authorities replied that there was no need to transfer her to another place. By midnight on Wednesday, the child’s condition deteriorated and he was given oxygen.

An ambulance was called on the insistence of the parents to transfer the child to the medical college, but to no avail. It is alleged that the child was taken to the ambulance after the oxygen was cut off even though it was an emergency stage.
