Puducherry: Legal powers to prevent illegal activities have been devolved in the state of Puducherry.

The Union Home Ministry has issued an order banning Popular Friend of India for 5 years. Also, the subsidiary organizations of Popular Front of India and its auxiliary organizations have also been banned. In turn, the central government has devolved the powers under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act-1967 to the states. Accordingly, the powers of the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act have been shared in the state of Puducherry.

In that, Puducherry, Karaikal District Magistrates, Crime Investigation Sr. SP, Law and Order Sr. SP, Karaikal Sr. SP, Agior have been given this authority. Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma has issued this order under the order of Governor Tamilisai. Action plans for this will be drawn up soon.
