Kathmandu: Former Nepal cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane has expressed his willingness to surrender in the case of raping a minor girl. Lamichane said in a Facebook post that he will reach Nepal on the 6th of this month and after this he will surrender before the authorities.

The Kathmandu District Court had earlier issued an arrest warrant against Lamichhan in the rape case and declared him a fugitive. This was because there was no information about Lamichane, who left the country after the allegations were made. Interpol also issued a search notice against Lamichane.

Meanwhile, Lamichane has maintained his innocence in the case in a Facebook post. Lamichane also clarified that the false allegations will be dealt with legally. Dear fans I am innocent and have done nothing wrong. I am ready to face the case, prove my innocence and uncover the conspiracy behind this. I am sure that time will answer all the false accusations raised against me – said Lamichhane.

A 17-year-old girl filed a molestation complaint against former Nepal captain and IPL star Lamichhan. The girl’s complaint was that on August 21, Lamichhan took her to different places and hotels in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur and raped her.

Lamichane has played 34 ODIs and 44 T20Is for Nepal, taking 69 wickets in ODIs and 85 in T20Is. Sandeep Lamichane has also played for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
