5 new electric forklifts will enter service

The Port of Ashdod company continues its streamlining processes with the arrival of 5 new electric forklifts manufactured by the company LINDE. The new forklifts will replace old 2.5 ton forklifts manufactured by the company HYSTER. These are innovative forklifts, which have a work regime control system and maintain safety. This is one of the most advanced systems in the world, which takes into account various parameters such as the weight of the load, the position of the center of gravity on the fork, the height of the lifted weight, and the tilt angle. Accordingly, the system can lower the lifting capacity if necessary, and is even able to stop the forklift from continuing in case of danger due to unsafe operation.

Out of the five forklifts, two of them have a lower mast and cab and are adapted to work inside the containers. Two more will work inside a warehouse for tools, and they have a standard cabin height with long forks 2 meters long, and a lifting height of over 4.5 meters. The fifth and last forklift is identical in its characteristics to two warehouse forklifts, but its horns are adapted to work in a spare parts warehouse and are therefore shorter, 1.6 meters long.

Eli Bar Yosef, Acting CEO of Ashdod Port, stated that: “The Ashdod Port Company invests many resources in order to upgrade and streamline the operational system, with the aim of bringing our customers the fastest, most efficient, and safest service. The innovative forklifts are another step that will allow the port to prepare for competition and continue to be Israel’s port.’
