In early July, the total rose to 1.8 million.

More than a million visitors are expected in Qatar, a country of 2.8 million inhabitants, despite the controversies targeting the tournament. In August, the international federation had drawn up the list of the most buying supporters by country of residence. Fans living in Qatar, the United States, England, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, France, Argentina, Brazil and Germany topped the ticket sales charts.
