Inauguration of welfare scheme for 30.1 lakh families in Sri Lanka

Colombo: The Government of Sri Lanka has now launched a restructured welfare scheme to benefit 30.1 lakh vulnerable families.

The media wing of the Chancellor said that the process of registration of those eligible for government assistance has started and those who wish to get assistance should register before October 15.

Applications can be downloaded from the website of the Welfare Benefits Board, said the media wing of the Chancellor. It is also informed that the format of applications will be published in all newspapers. This is the theme of the show ‘leave no one behind’.

Eligible beneficiaries include those already receiving government assistance, those suffering from terminal illness or disability, the elderly, and those who have lost their livelihoods due to the current economic crisis.

And the media wing of the president also said that the economic situation in the South Asian island nation will improve in 2023.
