The crew of the burning ship was rescued by the Saudi Border Security Force

Jeddah: The Saudi Border Security Force rescued the crew of the Panama cargo ship that caught fire in the Red Sea. With the help of a foreign ship, the Saudi forces rescued the crew of the Panamanian-flagged ship passing through the Red Sea 123 nautical miles northwest of Jizan port.

Colonel Musfar Alqarni, the official spokesman of the army, said that the information was received at the Jeddah Search and Rescue Coordination Center that the ship was on fire. The position of the vessel was immediately determined and the information was immediately forwarded to the Command and Control Center and relevant departments in Jizan region to provide necessary support.

A rescue boat under the Border Force was dispatched to the spot where the ship was. The crew was rescued from the burning ship with the help of another ship that was traveling that way.

There were 25 people from different countries on the ship. They were rescued and brought to Jizan port. Medical teams from Security Forces, Health Affairs, Red Crescent, Civil Defense and Passport Directorate came to treat them. Everyone’s health is satisfactory. The spokesperson said that later he was shifted to his residence and legal procedures were completed.
