Barbara Krejcikova advanced to the women’s singles finals of the ECEL Open tennis tournament.
Wimbledon champion Elena Repaykina and Barbara clashed in the first semi-final on Saturday night in Ostrava.
While Elena easily won the first set 6-3, Barbara gave a tough challenge to Elena in the second set.
Barbara won 7-6 as both of them scored points alternately. Following this, Barbara dominated the 3rd set and won 6-4.
Sviatek defeated Cathy McNally 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals on Friday night. Sviatek, who won the French and US Open Grand Slam titles this year, fought for more than 2 hours in this match and qualified for the semi-finals. Sviatek will face Aleksandr in the final round.
In another quarter-final match, former Grand Slam champion Barbara Krejcikova qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Alicia Parks in no sets 7-6, 6-3 after two hours of tough challenge. Barbara will face Elena Repaykina in the semi-finals.
Wimbledon champion Elena Repykina beat former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in no sets 7-6, 6-4.
