Due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, people were protesting. As a result, Mahinda Rajapakse, who was the Prime Minister, and Gotabaya Rajapakse, who was the President, resigned. Ranil Wickramasinghe was elected as the President.
Meanwhile, Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed a public meeting for the first time after resigning as Prime Minister last May.
Then Mahinda Rajapakse said:-
We should work together with President Ranil. Earlier we said Ranil was wrong. But today he is with us. If the country wants good things to happen, Ranil should be supported and acted upon.
We are ready to work with him for the benefit of the people. Today we are facing various challenges. We have the power to overcome those challenges. To fulfill the needs of the people. Know the needs and act accordingly. People today are very politically aware.
