Paris: As anti-hijab protests continue in Iran, a live news broadcast on a state television channel has been hacked by digital activists. Protesters burned effigies of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini and painted the sign of the cross on his face. The message ‘Blood of our youth is on your hands’ was also written on the broadcast screen. The channel was hacked at 9pm local time.

Khomeini, the leader, interjected footage of his meeting with officials and briefly scrawled the slogan ‘Join us, rise up’. Then a picture of three women was shown on the screen.

Protests erupted in Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The woman was detained by the police for not wearing hijab properly. US President Joe Biden also came out to support the anti-hijab protesters in Iran. He also stated that the action of the ruler is a violation of human rights.

Protests in Iran continue for the 19th day following the death of a young woman in custody. People took to the streets in protest in more than seventeen cities of fourteen provinces of the country yesterday. Currently, the strike is taking place in high schools and universities. More than 400 people have been killed so far in police violence against protesters. About 10,000 people were injured.
