Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, His Excellency the President of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Professor Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amiri, – today – inaugurated the “Student Mental Health according to the Saudi Vision 2030” conference at Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim in the conference building at the university.
His Excellency the President of the University, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amiri, in his speech, valued the patronage of His Highness, the Governor of the Riyadh region, for this conference, welcoming the participants and the attendance of this conference in the university campus, which is one of the leading universities, which the state – may God support it – granted most of its attention and sponsorship under the leadership Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them -.
His Excellency explained that the organization of the conference (Student Mental Health in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030) – which will last for two days -; It came to highlight the role of the programs of this ambitious vision in improving the quality of life and enhancing the mental health of the people of this country. Here lies the importance of the vision in building a society whose members enjoy a decent life and a healthy lifestyle and an environment that provides a positive and attractive environment, where mental health is of great importance parallel to physical health. This is due to its great impact on human health and happiness.
He stressed the university’s keenness to enhance the mental health of its students and employees; Through the provision of the Psychological and Social Therapy and Counseling Unit “Enaya”, through which the university seeks to “provide a specialized service that provides therapeutic and counseling services; To support and achieve mental health and social harmony among students and employees of the university, in addition to forming a group to promote mental health that aims to implement programs, initiatives and activities to build the balanced personality of the university student, and to promote and activate community initiatives in the field of mental health, and a number of initiatives of the university’s strategic plan (2021-2025). Hence, the university’s interest in organizing this conference, in which elite scientific research pioneers from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participate, as the university looks forward to coming out of it with recommendations, initiatives and programs that achieve its goals, which will be reflected on our sons and daughters in their academic environment.
For his part, Associate Professor of Psychology, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Saad Al-Ahmad, delivered the speech of the conference’s organizing committee, in which he stated that the psychological and social aspects are of great importance in raising the level of academic performance for male and female students, who are considered an essential axis in the educational and academic process. The university is keen to launch this conference, which aims to enhance awareness, raise the level of psychological culture, build a balanced personality for university students, activate community initiatives in the field of mental health, pay attention to risk factors within the university environment, and cooperate with the National Center for the Promotion of Mental Health to achieve these goals.
Dr. Al-Ahmad explained that the university seeks, through the conference, to unify efforts to serve scientific research in the field of mental health and to shed light on the problems and challenges in this field and the proposed solutions for that, and to exchange scientific ideas among all interested parties, looking forward to the conference coming out with recommendations and solutions that serve mental health in a way that raises the profile its level and serves to achieve the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
After that, the Director General of the National Center for the Promotion of Mental Health, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Habib, delivered a speech to the guests and participants, in which he expressed his pleasure to participate in the conference held in the edifice of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, praising the topic of the conference and that it serves a precious group of society, namely the students, stressing that the conference and papers The introduction in it comes as an attempt to understand the factors with a scientific methodology and accurate rooting.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency the President of the University honored the participating parties, chairs of the plenary sessions and the main speakers in them. After that, His Excellency the President of the University toured the accompanying exhibition, during which he was briefed on the participating parties from public and private sector institutions that are interested in providing mental health services, and listened to a brief explanation about what It was presented by more than 20 participating parties. At the end of his tour, he was briefed on a number of scientific posters presented at the conference.
