“Oh, I shouldn’t have sent that email.” This has happened to all of us at least once. Fortunately, you can unsend and unsend emails in Microsoft Outlook. To prevent this from happening in the future, we’ll show you how to cancel sending an email and how to delay it so you can check it out.
Use Undo Send in Outlook for the web
You can cancel an email with a single click in Outlook for the web. This may take up to 10 seconds. First, we need to make sure the feature is set up correctly.

First, click on the Settings (gear) icon and scroll to the bottom of the sidebar that appears. Then select Show all Outlook settings.
When the Settings window opens, select “Mail” on the far left, then “Compose & Reply” on the right.
on the far right[送信取り消し]Go to the section. A brief description of the function is displayed and the slider adjusts the number of seconds up to 10.
After setting the undo send timing, make sure that[保存]Please click on.
Cancel sending email
The next time you send an email in Outlook for the web, you’ll see a short message at the bottom.
[元に戻す]To prevent emails from being sent to recipients during the period specified above.
The email appears as a draft, just like you first created it. From there, you can edit or delete it as per your preference.
Invoke an email in Outlook on the desktop
Similar, but the Outlook desktop app has[送信取り消し]It has an undo function, not an option.
The difference is that the email will continue to be sent to the recipient. However, if the recipient hasn’t opened the email yet, they can be reminded.

There is no time frame for remembering the message. But the longer you wait, the more likely recipients are to open your email.
NB: Only if you and the recipient have Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Exchange email accounts in the same organization[送信]You can cancel the email after clicking.
If you have multiple email accounts for this email account[送信済み]Go to the folder. select a message to open in its own window,[メッセージ]Go to the tab.
ribbon[移動]In the department[その他の移動アクション]Click the drop-down arrow to select Cancel this message.
[このメッセージを取り消す]In the pop-up window, select the option to delete the unread version of the email or delete the unread version and replace it with a new one.
Optionally, check the box below if you want to be notified of successes or failures of the recall. Click OK.
Selecting the Replace email option opens a new compose window. You will see the original message that you can edit.
After editing the email, select Send.
NB: Recipients may receive an email asking them to recall the message.
Create a rule to delay sending emails
You can create rules in the Outlook desktop client to prevent you from sending emails or sending emails that accidentally forget attachments or recipients.

This rule delays sending emails by a specified amount. The email will remain in your Outbox and you can review it before sending.
[ファイル]Go to the tab and on the left[情報]Choose. If you have multiple email accounts, select your email account at the top. Then click Manage Rules and Alerts.
[ルールとアラート]in the box,[電子メール ルール]Make sure that the tab appears and that the correct email address is displayed. Then select New Rule at the top left.
When the automatic journal wizard opens,[空のルールから開始]In the department[送信するメッセージにルールを適用する]Choose. Click {Next.
You can then define certain conditions for the rule, if desired.
For example, you can apply a rule only to messages that are marked as important or messages that contain certain words in the subject.
If you don’t specify any conditions, just select “Next”. You will then receive an alert confirming that you want to apply the rule to all emails you send.
Click Yes to confirm and continue.
On the next screen, at the bottom[Defer Delivery by a Number of minutes]Check the box for
Then click the Number of link in the Step 2 box at the bottom.
In the next popup, enter the number of minutes you want to use,[OK]Click. Then select Next.
If you want exceptions to the rule, check these boxes. Then click Next again.
On the last screen, name your rule.[このルールを有効にする]check the box and optionally[すべてのアカウントにこのルールを作成する]Check out the fund.
Check out the base description below. Click Back if you need to make any changes. Unlike that,[完了]to create a rule.
[ルールとアラート]When you return to the window, you will see your new rule in the list.[適用]And[OK]to close the window and return to your inbox.
To see your pending emails, go to your email account’s Outbox folder. Then you have time to edit or delete the email before it reaches the recipient.
When sending a message with missing attachments or containing details that should not be sent, there are ways to unsend or unsend the email. However, to prevent this from happening again, consider setting up a delivery delay rule for Outlook emails you send.
