Strong criticism of Genetic Engineering Hearing | time.news

Almost 40 organizations from eleven countries leave no good hair at an EU hearing on genetic engineering. It leads to wrong conclusions and does not go into enough data and facts.

Environmental organizations dedicated to the quality and protection of food have spoken out several times in the past few days and weeks. The most recent cause concerns genetically modified food and a consultation process initiated by the EU which is now nearing completion.

The proceedings began with a ruling by the European Court of Justice, which ruled in 2018 that the new method of a relatively new genetic engineering process – Crispr/Cas9 – should be treated legally like previous genetic modifications of plants. With Crispr/Cas9 certain properties of a plant are activated or deactivated. In conventional genetic engineering interventions, cells are transferred from one organism to another.
