Nekkuppai: Villagers of Nekkuppai area have reported that agriculture and drinking water works are affected due to non-distribution of continuous three-phase electricity.

Locals say that three-phase electricity is supplied only for 5 hours during the day and from 10:00 am to 4:30 am at night in the villages of Nekkuppai Keezatheru, Navanik Kalam, Karupar Koil, Mandu Karupar Koil, Vadugapatti, Konnathanpatti, Phoolanpatti, Papanpatti. This makes it difficult for well irrigated farmers to water their fields. You have to stay awake at night for this. The villagers also claim that the supply of drinking water to overhead tanks is also affected and have demanded continuous supply of three-pronged electricity.

According to the power department, electricity is distributed in four routes from Tekur sub-station. Residential areas and agricultural areas have separate lanes. This is a problem in border areas. Actions will be taken to repair it’, they said.
