Xiaomi launched the 12T and 12T Pro starting at $749

A few days after the announcement, Xiaomi as usual launched the pair of 12T devices for sale on its official AliExpress store. These will be offered at a starting price of $549 and $749 respectively, with the first buyers enjoying a Redmi Watch 2 Lite and also a price discount for a limited time.

As you remember, Xiaomi 12T Pro is the company’s new flagship device that for the first time brings a 200 megapixel sensor from Samsung. It is a 1.22-inch sensor with a pixel size of 0.64µm, working with 16-in-1 pixel unification technology for a 12.5-megapixel image. The company claims that thanks to it you can produce sharper and better quality images, even in dark lighting conditions, as well as thanks to artificial intelligence and an optical image stabilizer to prevent blurring and lack of focus of objects in the image.

There is also support for 8K video recording with object tracking, night mode and HDR+. Also in the lineup is an 8-megapixel camera with a wide lens as well as a 2-megapixel camera with a macro lens. The selfie camera is 20 megapixels. In contrast, the Xiaomi 12T comes with a more modest sensor of 108 megapixels and it is also from Samsung, an ISOCELL HM6 model with a 1.67-inch sensor, with a ratio of 9 to 1 for a 12 megapixel image. The pair of additional cameras remain the same and that the main sensor also has an optical image stabilizer.

Both models have a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a QuadHD+ resolution panel with a variable refresh rate in jumps of 30 to up to 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz. The panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision with a maximum brightness of 500 nits and the glass is Gorilla Glass 5. The fingerprint sensor is embedded under the screen and the selfie camera with a 20-megapixel sensor is located in the hole at the top.

Another difference is found in the processor. XIaomi 12T Pro is based on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chips alongside 8 or 12 gigabytes of memory (RAM) and 128 or 256 gigabytes of internal storage. In contrast, 12T is based on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100-Ultra chipset. It comes in a single memory configuration of 8 GB and storage of 128 or 256 GB without the option of expansion.

The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh with support for fast charging of 120 watts, with the charger included in the package. The operating system is Android 12 with the MIUI 13 interface. There are also stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, while in the 12T these come from the Harman Kardon brand.

The special sale of the pair of devices will start today and will last for two days, with the price as mentioned for the basic configuration of 12T being 549 dollars (about 1,950 NIS) or 599 dollars (about 2,100 NIS) for the 8/256 gigabyte version. For 12T the price starts from 749 dollars (about NIS 2,650) or 799 dollars (about NIS 2,800) for the 12/256 gigabyte configuration. The prices are before tax and the global version supports Hebrew.

Redmi Pad

Alongside the pair of new devices, Xiaomi also launched the Redmi Tab, a tablet for the entry-level market that is designed to be cheaper than the Xiaomi Pad 5 launched this year. The tablet offers a 10.61-inch LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz that displays its images on a resolution of 1200×2000 pixels with a brightness of 400 nits, with a built-in blue light reduction mode.

The Redmi Tab is quite thin and its thickness is 7.05 mm with a weight of 445 grams. It is designed in a metal body with a nice finish, when it is available in gray, silver and green colors. The prices for Redmi Pad start at 249 dollars for 3/64 gigabytes (about 830 shekels), 279 dollars for 4/128 (about 980 shekels) and 299 dollars for the most advanced configuration of 6/128 gigabytes – Byte, which is about NIS 1,000 before tax.
