Ahmedabad: Kerala and West Bengal will clash in the National Games football final. In today’s semi-final matches, Kerala defeated Karnataka by two goals and beat Bengal Services by one goal.
Kerala took the lead against Karnataka with a goal scored by Muhammad Ashiq in the second minute. Ashiq’s beautiful goal was a through pass given by Gerritok on the right wing. But after the first goal fell, Karnataka dominated the game in ball handling and passing. Karnataka rattled the Kerala defense several times with short passes. Captain Edwin Rosario played for Karnataka in the midfield.

On the other hand, Kerala did not want to sharpen up their attack after the first goal. Kerala failed in passing and possession at crucial times. Meanwhile, Karnataka goalkeeper Deepak managed to save a free kick of Lijo Gilbert’s goal. In the 25th minute, Karnataka’s Sudhir Kodikela’s shot from close range hit the post and came back as a blessing for Kerala.
In the 42nd minute, Kerala also got a chance to take the lead. But Vignesh’s grounder was hit by Karnataka goalkeeper Deepak. Kerala’s Muhammad Parokot replaced Aashiq who was injured just before the first half.

Kerala took the lead at the beginning of the second half. In the 54th minute, P Ajeesh scored Kerala’s second goal from Mohammad Parokotil’s pass. With two goals falling, Karnataka could not bring out the best in the first half and could not create any more chances.
