In areas such as Tirupporur and Kelambakkam, there are increasing numbers of advertising banners along the road, including political, marriage, land and house sales.
These billboards attract the attention of motorists, leading to more accidents. Also, since it is rainy season, there is a situation where the banners fall down in the wind.
Supreme and High Court bans on placing banners on roads are in force. However, the people concerned do not see this. As a precautionary measure, social activists expect the government authorities to take action to remove the banners along the highway.
