Billionaire Yuri Milner officially announced today (Tuesday) that he renounced his Russian citizenship together with his family members and is now an Israeli citizen only. Milner (61) is an Internet entrepreneur ranked 15th in the ranking of Russia’s richest people with a net worth of 7.6 billion dollars. He received Israeli citizenship in 1999 and soon after left for the United States where he was active in several ventures in the internet field and among other things collaborated with Facebook.

The American authorities included Milner in the list of “Putin’s people” and claimed that the Russian intelligence made use of his companies – however Milner himself claimed that he had nothing to do with the Kremlin. About renouncing Russian citizenship, Milner wrote on his Twitter account: “My family and I have not lived in Russia since 2014, the year of the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula. Now we have finished the official procedure and we are no longer citizens of the Russian Federation.”
