Vaccination campaign in Aalsmeer for young people

by time news

Aalsmeer – All children are offered free vaccinations by the GGD under the National Immunization Programme. More than 95% of all parents in the Netherlands have their children vaccinated. If everyone gets all vaccinations, the whole of the Netherlands will be well protected against twelve serious diseases, such as measles, tetanus and various forms of cancer. For children up to and including 4 years of age, this is done through the health clinic and is part of the health examinations. School-age children are invited to larger vaccination campaigns in the spring and autumn.

On Wednesday, October 26, from 11.30 am to 7 pm, there will be a vaccination campaign in Sporthal De Water Lily aan de Dreef for young people from 9 years old, who live in Aalsmeer, Kudelstaart, De Kwakel and Uithoorn. In September, RIVM sent the vaccination cards and letters from the GGD youth health care to the parents and children with the exact date and time at which the vaccination appointment will take place. For more information, questions, objection or reschedule an appointment, please contact the JGZ on telephone number 020-5555961 or visit www.ggd.amsterdam.nl/vaccineren.

Prikangst

Youth health care workers have a lot of experience in dealing with needle stick fear in children. A positive approach and distraction often help with puncture anxiety. It is important that children are already prepared at home for what will happen and that there is as much rest as possible around the time of vaccination. That is why a separate room has been set up for the vaccination campaign, the special injection point. Young people and parents can ask for the special injection room themselves or be referred to it.

Corona vaccination

The vaccinations against corona are available to everyone aged 5 years and older. These are given by another department of GGD Amsterdam by appointment. For an appointment you can call 0800-7070.
