“Following the merry-go-round accident that occurred on October 9, 2022 at the Saintes funfair, the 16-year-old young man transported to the Poitiers University Hospital in serious condition died this day at the start of the afternoon from the consequences direct from his injuries, ”wrote Benjamin Alla in a press release posted on social networks.
The reason for the requalified investigation
A few hours after the accident, an investigation had been opened, “for involuntary injury with total incapacity for work for more than 3 months by deliberate breach of an obligation of safety or prudence”, specified the prosecutor. The death of the teenager comes to requalify the reason.
She is “now on trial for manslaughter by deliberate breach of an obligation of security or prudence”, details Benjamin Alla. The prosecutor indicates that “the numerous hearings of witnesses and the operations of technical expertise are continuing”. The carousel had been placed under seal after the first findings of the technical and scientific police service.
A high school student at the Air Force Technical School, the 16-year-old came to the carnival accompanied by a dozen classmates.
