Enrollment in the best schools for children of Mayan workers

BENGALURU- “A scheme to enroll children of graveyard workers in the social welfare department’s scheme to enroll children of the weaker sections in reputed schools of the state,” said Social Welfare and Backward Welfare Minister Srinivasa Pujari.

Yesterday, Minister Srinivasa Pujari held a consultation at Vidhan Souda, Bengaluru regarding the provision of facilities to graveyard workers. In this, he said:

Children of graveyard workers will be given priority in the social welfare department’s scheme to enroll children of the handicapped in popular schools in the state.

The government has decided to include the children of nomads, Devadasis, orphans and dependents, children with disabilities and children of graveyard workers.

The life of the cemetery workers, who are involved in the most noble cremation, is dire. The government has decided to discuss this with the cemetery workers and provide protection to their lives.

A government order will be issued giving priority to the children of graveyard workers. Steps will be taken to increase the enrollment from 1,000 to 2,000.

Steps will be taken to provide accommodation, housing, health card, identity card, minimum wages to workers working in cemeteries in various places including Bengaluru Corporation.

A letter will be written to the Bangalore Municipal Corporation and the details of graves in each Grama Panchayat, Town Panchayat, Municipality, Borough and Borough will be consulted and action will be taken to recruit staff for the cemetery.
