The EELV deputy for Paris, Sandrine Rousseau, confirmed on Wednesday that the possibility of her benefiting from police protection was being assessed by the authorities, due to the numerous threats she suffered, in particular on social networks.

An assessment of the threat to MP EELV was launched by the Counter-Terrorism Coordination Unit (Uclat), said the Ministry of the Interior, confirming information from the newspaper L’Opinion.

“It was Gérald Darmanin himself who contacted me” to propose this threat assessment, inviting him to provide all the useful documents, added Sandrine Rousseau. The MP, whose public statements often trigger heated debates, explains that she receives many threats, by mail and on social networks.

Increased threats since the Bayou affair

“And it has intensified lately,” said the ecologist, who was recently at the heart of the news after relaying accusations of “psychological violence” made against his colleague Julien Bayou.

“I filed three complaints”, one of which resulted in June in the appearance of a man “who had threatened me with a throat cut”, underlined Sandrine Rousseau. She explained that at this stage she was not “requesting police protection”, but that she wanted to “know what the risk is” in order to decide whether it should be offered to her.
