Lawyers close to Pedro Castillo file a new complaint against the Attorney General of Peru

Two lawyers close to Peruvian President Pedro Castillo filed a complaint this Wednesday against Patricia Benavides, the Peruvian State Attorney General, accusing her of prevarication, just one day after she constitutionally denounced the Peruvian president for corruption.

Lawyers Raúl Noblecilla and Ronald Atencio, who already filed a complaint against Benavides last week for concealment of personnel, have argued that the head of the Prosecutor’s Office has acted illegally after filing a constitutional complaint against the President of the Republic of Peru, registered according to the country’s Constitution, the RPP radio station reported.

“I file a criminal complaint against Patricia Benavides Vargas, prosecutor of the Nation, for the commission of the crime of criminal illicit prevarication, provided for in article 418 of the criminal code and sanctioned with a maximum sentence of 5 years,” states the complaint filed by both lawyers. .

Noblecilla and Atencio have affirmed that the head of the Public Ministry has not limited herself to her constitutional powers after issuing a statement against the president of Peru, something that the Peruvian Magna Carta does not allow, according to the newspaper ‘La República’.

“It is flagrantly violating a constitutional article and that is called prevarication,” lawyer Ronald Atencio argued.

This is the second complaint that the jurists have filed against Benavides in less than a week. Last Friday, the State Attorney General was accused of the crime of concealing personnel by withdrawing Supreme Prosecutor Bersabeth Revilla from the case against Emma Benavides, sister of the head of the Public Ministry and investigated for the alleged crime of passive bribery and illicit association to offend
