by time news

Rescuers failed to save his life. A worker lost his life on Wednesday in Pontchâteau, in Loire-Atlantique, while carrying out work on the site of a new high school under construction.

It was in the early afternoon that the 41-year-old man died after being crushed by a construction machine against a wall. Another worker was in charge of handling the machine and would have had only “little visibility” at this moment, underlines France Bleu Loire Océan.

Despite a rapid emergency response, the victim could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was an employee of the company Dek, notes the daily Ouest-France.

The construction site suspended

Operations on the site have been suspended until investigators can shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy, France Bleu said.

According to the radio, the labor inspectorate went to the scene and confirmed in the evening that the worker involved had not consumed alcohol or narcotics. The gendarmes of the community of brigades of Pontchâteau were also present.
