Kuwait City: Preparations for the opening session of the National Assembly scheduled for the 18th of this month have begun amid political controversies. It has been informed that invitations have been sent by the National Assembly Secretariat for the inaugural session. Diplomats, senior officials and politicians are invited to the first meeting. With this, the announcement of the cabinet is expected to be made soon.

Government formation has to take place before the conference. After the elections on September 29, the first assembly session was scheduled for October 11. Ministers were also announced under the Prime Minister-designate Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Assabah. However, the date of the meeting was postponed when the MPs came forward against the cabinet members.

Then it was fixed for 18th of this month. However, the opposition and lawyers point out that delaying the first assembly session is a violation of the constitution and the session should be held before the 18th. The Prime Minister has already held discussions with around 50 MPs on the issues of government formation and cooperation with the National Assembly. The Prime Minister also met with women MPs Jenan Bushehri and Ali Al Khalid the other day.

Bushehri said that the cooperation between the assembly and the government will be according to the positions and decisions. Ali Al Khalid said that he asked the Prime Minister to form a special commission for citizenship. It is indicated that the names of the ministers will be decided taking into account the ideas that have emerged in the discussions. It is certain that some will drop out of the pre-determined list and new ones will arrive. It is said that the new cabinet will be announced this week.
