Government of Tamil Nadu should take appropriate measures to ensure that people belonging to tribal communities can get caste certificate easily like other communities. Moreover, the leader of the Liberation Tigers Party Thirumavalavan has appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to set up a commission under the leadership of a retired judge to identify and solve the problems in obtaining tribal certificates.
In this regard, he has said in a statement:-
Velmurugan, who belongs to Patappai area of Kanchipuram district, was recently burnt to death in the Madras High Court complex by pouring petrol on him. On behalf of the Liberation Tigers of India, we offer our deepest condolences to his bereaved family including his wife and three children.

He has applied for caste certificate. He has met the Revenue Commissioner in person and requested several times. However, he has suffered a lot of stress because he could not get the caste certificate. Therefore, he set fire to the place where he arrived at the High Court premises two days ago. The police admitted him to Kilpakkam hospital to save him who was seriously injured. However, the treatment failed and he passed away yesterday.
On the eve of his death, he made a death confession saying, “I belong to the hill tribe; I visited the government offices many times asking for a caste certificate for my son. But I didn’t get the caste certificate. I took this decision out of regret. I hope that our people will get a caste certificate without hindrance from now on.” .
From his testimony, how difficult it is for tribal people to get caste certificate; Understandably complex. He has a son and two daughters studying in class 10th. Their future is now in question. Therefore, on behalf of Vishika, we request the Tamil Nadu government to provide government employment to his wife and compensation of rupees fifty lakhs.
