Pope Francis has sent a message to the World Food and Agriculture Organization urging that hunger, malnutrition, undernutrition and poverty should not be an emergency solution, but rather lasting and fair solutions.

Pope Francis said this in a message sent by the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to thank the Pope for the invitation to the World Food Day to be celebrated on Sunday, October 16.

Expressing his appreciation to the FAO Organizations for meeting the needs of the hungry, the Pope said that this year’s World Food Day is being celebrated with the theme of better production, nutrition, environment and life for all and it is appropriate in today’s environment.

He said that the FAO organization which was formed to solve the problems of the people who suffered due to the effects of the Second World War, is creating humanity and unity in a global manner, and requested everyone to realize the need to take lasting and sustainable decisions to solve the food shortage and poverty situation of the people who are living in an environment like the Third World War.

The theme of the 77th World Food Day is better production, better nutrition, better environment and better life, leaving no one behind.
