KMore than 1,300 male and female students are studying in the Corporation Middle School operating in Hosur Kamaraj Colony, Rushnigiri District. During the lunch break today, something is said to have blown up near the school. It is said that many students had suffocation due to breathing it. Suddenly, they began to throw up, vomit, and collapse.
Shocked by this, the teachers rescued the students and took them to the government hospital in ambulances. Other students in the school were also taken to the nearby playground for their safety. After getting the information, parents and villagers gathered there. Fearing that other students might have been affected, their parents also brought their children to hospitals. Over a hundred students were brought in for treatment and medical check-ups, causing a frenzy.
It was reported that the students were affected due to the release of poisonous gas from the septic tank inside the school premises. Due to this, the Corporation officials have rushed to the school campus and visited it. Preliminary investigation has revealed that there is no toxic gas escaping from the septic tank. If that is the case, the authorities are investigating the cause of the students’ injuries, whether there is any problem with the food they ate, it is said that the turwad was thrown and where it came from.
When asked about this from Hosur Mayor S.A. Satya, he said, “The students are fine. Unaffected students were sent home with their parents after the test. Only 10, 15 students have been admitted to the hospital. It is found that the septic tank is not leaking. Due to this, blood test is done on the students. Till now, I don’t know what the reason is.”
