Both Saints Cosme and Rutilio are special and free gifts given by God to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Francis said.

The Pope said this while addressing pilgrims from El Salvador on October 14 in the Clementina Room of the Vatican.

Reverends Rutilio Grande, Manuel Solórzano, Nelson Rutilio Lemus, and Cosma Spessotto, elevated to Reverends in El Salvador on January 22, 2022, are a great gift not only to the El Salvadoran Church, but also to the Universal Church, and their lives are in God’s grace. The Pope emphasized that it will last.

The Pope urged everyone to live like the benefactors who showed through their lives that social problems can be solved through understanding God, attracting others with love, and living with faith.

The Pope asked us to try to live according to those who are models of a united journey by adhering to brotherly relationship, faith, love, etc., and those who experienced the sufferings of Jesus in their lives and accepted the crosses given by God and lived accordingly.

The Pope emphasized on making Christ’s immeasurable love a reality, taking up the cross that God gives to each of us personally, taking up the cross of Jesus as the cross of all, following him with supreme sacrificial love, and accepting the cross of Saints.

He also highlighted that through this we are helping the journey of the United Church, which is a symbol of the faith of all people, advancing towards God.
