Man sustains stab wound in a fight in the center of Paramaribo

A man who was probably involved in a fight on Jodenbreestraat in Suriname around 12:50 pm this afternoon, was injured in his hand. The victim went to market police to seek help.

An ambulance was called in and arrived at the scene after 35 minutes. Given that the man was bleeding profusely, a media worker offered first aid by bandaging his upper arm with a cloth.

At one point, the media worker was ordered by the Surinamese police to leave the place, because he wanted to capture a photo of the situation.

The police of resort Centrum is investigating the matter further.

UPDATE: The 47-year-old victim is known to the police as a quarrel. He had a glass bottle in his hand and got into an altercation with another man. At one point, the other man pushed him, causing him to fall. The brawler was injured by the shards of glass.
