Coimbatore: On behalf of RG Sports Academy, the district level volleyball tournament for 14 and 19 year olds started yesterday at Somayambalayam; Somayambalayam panchayat president Rangaraj inaugurated it.
More than 70 teams from various parts of the district, in male and female category, are participating and competing in ‘knock out’ mode.
Yesterday, in the first round match for students below 14 years of age, GMS volleyball team beat SVG team 2 – 0; Aggarwal’s team defeated Gandhi’s team with a score of 2 – 0.
In the 19-year-old students category, Agarwal team beat Vellalur Government School team by 2 – 0; The Crescent School team defeated the Thondamuthar Government School team by 2 – 0.
